Sugaring season has always fascinated most people in Vermont and many people in the states and provinces with the appropriate weather conditions. Many do-it-yourselfers are able to tap a few trees [5-20] for their enjoyment and produce the syrup they need. Other larger, but still small scale operations [50-500 taps] have more dedicated setups with commercial evaporators and often a small sugarhouse. Then of course, there are the commercial operations [1000+ taps] that use pipelines, vacuum and reverse-osmosis to increase production.
Even if you’ve never made syrup, most locals have been exposed to it growing up, with field trips to sugar houses and/or teachings. So if you’ve ever made maple syrup, or just been fascinated by it, this site should help you live-along with the hobby, virtually. The data shown here is taken, in real-time, from a small sugaring operation in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, so these runs will be later than those located further south. There is data for 10- and 100-taps, so select the one that you can best relate to, or click on @Tree to see what’s going on at the tree.
