2024 Season Summary

By far the best season we’ve had in the few years we’ve been running. We added four buckets, bringing the total number of taps to 20. The flow for making sugar has been perfected, and will be used from now on. Sap is processed 20 gallons at a time. It get’s RO’d down to ~5 gallons of concentrate, boiled to maple syrup where it is measured and graded, making a little less than 1/2 gallon of syrup, then it is further boiled till sugar where it yields about 3 lbs. Sugar content was about average this year. The syrup was darker than last year and probably closer to average. The RO worked great, and we added an inline TDS meter to simplify things. With the added taps, great season, and full season of sugar making, we made a surprising 40 lbs of sugar. The season ended the day before the total solar eclipse which capped off an amazing year.
